Buying Offscreen
Offscreen is sold through Blink. Blink acts as the merchant of record for your order. That means Blink is the seller named on your receipt, takes your payment and handles any VAT or sales tax for your country. Blink’s own buyer terms also apply to the payment part of your purchase: link to Blink’s buyer terms.
We are responsible for Offscreen itself: the product, your access to it, updates and support.
The price is shown on our website and at checkout before you pay. It is a one-time payment. There is no subscription and nothing renews.
After you pay, you’ll receive an email with your Offscreen link, your access code and the user guide. If it hasn’t arrived within an hour, check your spam folder, then email us.
Your licence
When you buy Offscreen, we give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use it for your own household. In practice that means:
- You can use Offscreen on as many of your household’s phones, tablets and computers as you like.
- You can share printouts, caregiver cards and child plans with the people who look after your children.
- Please keep your access code to yourself. Don’t post it publicly or share it outside your household.
- You may not resell, rent, give away or publish Offscreen, its files or its code, or use it to build a competing product.
- You may not copy Offscreen’s design, illustrations, text or user guide, other than for your own household’s use.
Offscreen, its name, illustrations and content belong to The Jae Method. Buying a licence doesn’t transfer ownership of any of it to you.
What Offscreen is, and isn’t
Offscreen is a planning tool that helps your family write down and keep track of its own screen rules. It does not connect to, monitor, filter or block any device.
Offscreen gives general suggestions, not professional advice. You decide what’s right for your family. If you have concerns about a child’s health, development or wellbeing, please speak to a qualified professional.
Your data and backups
Everything you enter in Offscreen is stored on your own device, in your web browser. It isn’t sent to us and we can’t see it. Our privacy policy explains this in full.
Because your plan lives on your device, it can be lost if you clear your browser data, use private browsing, or lose or reset the device. Offscreen lets you download a backup file at any time. Please do this regularly. We can’t recover a plan that was lost from your device.
Access and updates
Offscreen opens in a web browser and needs an internet connection. We may improve Offscreen and update it from time to time. Updates are included in your purchase.
We’ll keep Offscreen available at your link for as long as we reasonably can. If we ever have to stop offering it, we’ll tell you by email at least 90 days in advance and explain how to keep a copy of your plan.
We’ll do our best to keep Offscreen running smoothly, but we can’t promise it will always be available without interruption, for example during maintenance or problems with our hosting provider.
Refunds
Blink, our merchant of record, handles payments and refunds. Their refund policy is shown at checkout and on your receipt. If something isn’t working, email us first at hello@thejaemethod.com and we’ll help put it right.
Our responsibility to you
We provide Offscreen with reasonable care and skill, and it should work as described on our website when used in a supported, up-to-date browser.
As far as the law allows, our total responsibility to you for anything related to Offscreen is limited to the amount you paid for it. We aren’t responsible for losses we couldn’t reasonably have foreseen, or for loss of data you could have avoided by keeping a backup.
Nothing in these terms limits any responsibility that can’t be limited by law, or takes away rights you have as a consumer under the law of your country.
Which law applies
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa. If you live elsewhere, you also keep the protection of any consumer laws in your own country that can’t be excluded, and you can bring a claim in your local courts if those laws allow it.
If you have a problem, please email us first. Most things can be sorted out quickly.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when we add features or the law changes. The date at the top of this page shows when they were last changed. The terms in place when you bought Offscreen apply to your purchase, unless a change is required by law.
