Privacy policy

Offscreen was built so your family’s plan stays with you. Here is exactly what we collect, and what we don’t.

Last updated 4 October 2026

The short version

  • Your family’s plan never leaves your device. We can’t see it.
  • When you buy, we receive your name, email and order details.
  • This website uses the Meta Pixel to measure our ads. In the UK and EU it only runs if you say yes.
  • You can ask us to see, correct or delete your details at any time.

Who we are

The Jae Method, based in South Africa, is responsible for your personal information. Under South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) we are the “responsible party”, and under the GDPR and UK GDPR we are the “controller”.

Inside the Offscreen app

Everything you type into Offscreen stays on your own device. That includes your children’s names and ages, their devices, your rules, routines, notes and printouts.

  • It is saved in your browser’s local storage on that device only.
  • It is never sent to us or anyone else. There are no accounts and no sign-in.
  • Backup files are created and kept by you. We never receive them unless you choose to email one to us for help.
  • The free demo saves nothing at all.

Because we never receive this information, we can’t view, recover or delete it for you. You can delete it yourself at any time from Settings in the app, or by clearing your browser data.

What we collect

When you buy

Blink, our merchant of record, collects your name, email address, billing country and payment details to process your order. We receive your name, email address and order details from Blink. We never see your full card details.

When you email us

We keep your email address and what you tell us, so we can help you.

When you visit this website

Our hosting provider, Netlify, automatically processes basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. This is used to deliver the site and keep it secure. Our fonts are stored on our own site, so no information is sent to font providers.

This website also uses the Meta Pixel, explained in the next section.

Cookies and the Meta Pixel

We advertise Offscreen on Facebook and Instagram. To see which ads work, this website uses the Meta Pixel, a small piece of code from Meta Platforms. It tells Meta when someone who saw our ad visits this site or reaches the price, and Blink’s checkout tells Meta when a purchase is made. Meta may use cookies and receive your IP address, browser details and the pages you view. It does not receive anything you type into the Offscreen app.

  • UK and EU visitors: the Pixel only runs after you tap Accept on our cookie banner.
  • Everyone else: the Pixel runs when the page loads, and you can switch it off at any time.
  • Change your mind: tap Cookie settings at the bottom of any page. Your choice is saved in your browser.

You can also control how Meta uses this information in your Facebook or Instagram ad settings. Meta’s own privacy policy explains how it handles data.

The Offscreen app itself has no Pixel, no cookies and no tracking.

We never sell your personal information.

Who we share it with

We only share information with the services that help us run Offscreen, and only what they need:

  • Blink, merchant of record, for payments, receipts, tax and refunds.
  • Netlify, for website hosting.
  • Meta Platforms, through the Meta Pixel on this website, to measure our ads.
  • GoDaddy, for our business email.
  • Your email marketing tool, if you use one. Delete this line if not.

We may also share information if the law requires it.

International transfers

Some of these providers store or process information outside South Africa, for example in the United States or the European Union. When that happens, we rely on the provider’s contractual safeguards, such as standard data protection clauses, so your information keeps a similar level of protection.

How long we keep it

  • Order and refund records: 5 years, as South African tax law requires.
  • Support emails: up to 2 years after we last hear from you.
  • Marketing list: until you unsubscribe.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy
  • correct anything that’s wrong
  • delete your information, unless we have to keep it by law
  • stop or limit how we use it, or object to it
  • send your information to you or another provider in a usable format
  • withdraw your consent to marketing at any time

Email hello@thejaemethod.com and we’ll reply within 30 days. It’s free.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa, to your local data protection authority if you live in the EU, or to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) in the UK.

Children

Offscreen is for parents and carers. It is not meant to be bought or used by children on their own, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. Information about your children that you enter into the app stays on your device, as explained above.

Keeping it safe

We use trusted providers, secure connections (HTTPS) and strong passwords with two-step sign-in on our accounts. Because your plan lives on your device, keeping that device locked is the best way to protect it.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. If a change is important, we’ll email customers about it.
